Our Journey
Our story is one which is rooted in tradition. The year was 1993, and Mr. Ashok Chheda, hailing from the Kutchi community in Mumbai, set out with a word of advice from his mother and a simple vision to guide him. What was the advice? To earn the respect of the community, it was important for him to start up his own business. Coming from a family of traders, Mr. Ashok Chheda knew the ins and outs of trading. So what next? Picture this. Mumbai, the city that never sleeps, had never woken up to the possibility of something other than Potato Chips as a snack. Here is where Mr. Chheda saw his opportunity, and under the name Chheda Wafers, introduced traditional Banana Chips in standardized packaging. This is how our journey began.
1993 – Born to be Pioneers
One product started it all for us in 1993. We were the first to introduce traditional Banana Chips in standardized packaging. And it all started with a clear vision: to be the No.1 Banana Chips manufacturer. That was the driving force which made us who we are today. Over 25 years, we have successfully provided the best, consistent products with ultimate taste and freshness.
1998 – We introduced new snacks
After successfully winning people over with our delicious Banana Chips, we decided to expand our product offerings. In order to provide more variety and cater to different taste preferences, we introduced a range of Potato Chips and Namkeens. The introduction of Potato Chips allowed us to offer a new flavor option to customers, while the addition of Namkeens provided a traditional Indian snack option.
2005 – Chheda Wafers became Chheda Specialties Foods Pvt Ltd
In the 12 years after starting up, the response from our customers was overwhelming. So, we incorporated our company ‘Chheda Specialties Foods Pvt Ltd. With it, we introduced a wide selection of high quality packaged premium Namkeens and snacks made using latest techniques and machines under the brand name ‘Chheda’s.
2009 – India was hungry for more
That year, we expanded to meet the growing demand for Chheda products. Today our factory at Manor, Maharashtra spans a sprawling 6 acres, manufacturing quality Namkeens and snacks thanks to a full-blown Quality Control Unit, Warehousing Unit, and Manufacturing Unit.
2011 – Chheda’s took its 1st trip abroad
Since then, our journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Today, we proudly ship over 50 different snack products to esteemed customers in the USA, the UK, Australia, UAE, Israel, and Sri Lanka. As we continue to expand, our goal is to become a household name both in India and across the globe.
2019 – Present Day
Today, we process 40 tonnes of Bananas on a daily which shows just how much our Banana Chips are still loved. But our hero snacks also include Potato Chips, Ethnic Snacks, Namkeens, and Pop-up snacks. And by 2025, we will have diversified our product range to cater to all of India and be present across the world.
